Minister Rabbi Aryeh Deri

MK Chairman and Founder of the Shas movement

Rabbi Aryeh Makhlouf Deri, founding chairman of the Shas movement, serves with distinction as a key leader of the Torah-observant community.

Born in 1959 in Meknès, Morocco, he immigrated to Israel at the age of nine, where he pursued his education diligently and emerged as a central figure in public and communal leadership.

As chairman of Shas, Rabbi Deri leads the second-largest party in the Israeli government and serves as a senior member of the Security and Foreign Affairs Cabinet, promoting Torah values, social justice, and community development.

He has long been committed to supporting children, youth, and disadvantaged communities, creating programmes that improve education, welfare, and social services, ensuring that all members of the community can thrive.

Rabbi Deri has held senior ministerial roles, including Minister of the Interior, Minister of Health, Minister of the Economy, and Minister for the Development of the Negev & Galilee. The Shas party proudly recognises his leadership, his dedication to Klal Yisrael, and his enduring influence on Jewish life both in Israel and across the Diaspora.

Maran Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlit"a

Maran HaRishon LeZion

Maran HaRishon LeZion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef  Shlit”a, son of Maran HaGaon Rabbi Ovadia Yosef  Zatzal, serves with distinction as the Rishon LeZion.

Born in 1952 in Jerusalem, he received his education in leading yeshivot and emerged as one of our generation’s foremost halachic authorities.

Elected as Rishon LeZion in 2013, Rabbi Yosef both preserves and advances the timeless values of Torah and tradition. His steadfast commitment to nurturing the youth and the next generation reflects his vision and leadership.

His acclaimed halachic works – especially the multi‑volume “Yalkut Yosef” series – are found in most Jewish homes worldwide and are widely studied in the majority of Jewish communities and yeshivot. In recognition of his scholarly contributions, he was awarded the Israel Prize for Torah literature in 2024.

The Shas party proudly acknowledges Rabbi Yosef’s leadership, his dedication to Klal Yisrael, and the profound, enduring influence he brings to Jewish life both in Israel and across the Diaspora.

Rabbi Eliyahu Shoshana

Hebrew Expert & Communities Specialist

Rabbi Eliyahu Shoshana, originally from Jerusalem and a graduate of Porat Yosef Yeshiva, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and is recognised as an expert in the Hebrew language. He has dedicated many years to education in Israel. In the early 2000s, after marrying his English wife, Rebbetzin Melul, he moved to England.

Recognising the growing need for community support among the UK’s large Israeli population, Rabbi Shoshana established organisations that provide warm, welcoming religious and social support for Israelis living in the United Kingdom.

Alongside his work in Kashrut, Rabbi Shoshana shares a weekly Shiur in Hebrew every Monday, bringing people together to learn, connect, and strengthen their ties to Torah and Klal Israel.

Mr David Menahem

Congress Member, Chairman and Founder

David Ezra Menahem, born in Manchester, is a proud alumnus of Yeshivat Beit Yosef, Gateshead.

A devoted servant of Torah and Klal Israel, he is a direct tenth-generation descendant of the holy Baal Shem Tov and is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual potential of every Jewish soul.

Under the guidance of Maran HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Yosef, Shlit”a, he founded the UK branch of Shas Olami, with the noble mission of “להחזיר עטרה ליושנה”, bringing renewed Torah inspiration and spiritual leadership to Jewish communities throughout the United Kingdom.

He was elected to serve as a member of the World Zionist Congress, representing the Sephardi Jewish communities of the United Kingdom, strengthening Torah values, supporting communal growth, and fostering unity and education within Klal Israel both in the UK and worldwide.
